The administration of Splash FM 105.5 in Ibadan, Oyo State, has implemented a ban on the broadcast of songs by Azeez Fashola, more commonly known as Naira Marley. This decision has been taken in light of the ongoing investigation surrounding the untimely demise of his former label artist, Mohbad. The prohibition was formally conveyed through a message posted on X (formerly Twitter) by one of the station’s presenters, Aderonke Adesola.
The internal memorandum issued by Splash FM’s management cited the active police inquiry into the circumstances of Mohbad’s passing as the rationale for this restriction. In recognition of the sensitive nature of the ongoing criminal investigation surrounding Mohbad’s death, the memo urged all staff members to exercise utmost discretion.
Effective immediately, Naira Marley’s songs have been categorized as “Not to be Broadcast” on their stations until further notice.
The post read;
“Good evening team. In view of the sensitive nature around the death of Mohbad and the criminal procedure, the police have commenced, I will urge us all to exercise discretion.
“To this effect, Naira Marley’s songs have become NTBB ( not to be broadcast) on our station till further notice. This is with immediate effect. Thank you.”
Naira Marley has been embroiled in controversy following Mohbad’s sudden death at 27.
The talented singer died a year after his controversial split from the record label owned by singer Naira Marley, due to an internal dispute and allegations of assault.
