They declared that the investigation isn’t restricted to certain parties.

The Lagos State Police Command has established a dedicated 13-member special investigative team tasked with probing the demise of Nigerian singer Mohbad, who tragically passed away on September 12, 2023.
During a press conference held on Monday, September 18th, 2023, Idowu Owohunwa, the Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Police Command, officially announced the establishment of a 13-member special investigative team to look into the tragic passing of Nigerian singer Mohbad. Notably, the late singer’s parents were in attendance during this briefing.
Commissioner Owohunwa stressed the commitment of law enforcement to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for or connected to Mohbad’s demise. He underlined that the police command possesses access to the resources of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).
He stated, “Regardless of your location worldwide, please be aware that we have unique access to INTERPOL. While we refrain from mentioning specific names, anyone associated with Mohbad’s death will be identified and held accountable to ascertain their level of involvement.”
Reiterating his stance multiple times, he emphasized that the police were refraining from disclosing any names associated with the ongoing investigation. Instead, they aimed to reassure the public that they were diligently pursuing the case.
He elaborated, saying, “We are intentionally avoiding singling out particular individuals at this juncture. We are considering all available evidence, including videos and other related information. Our approach is to avoid prematurely focusing on any specific individual. As the investigation progresses and individuals are identified within the boundaries of the law, they will be summoned to provide clarifications.”
This development follows a widespread public demand for the police to initiate an investigation into the untimely demise of the singer. The call for action gained momentum, particularly due to numerous videos circulating on social media that depict Mohbad facing harassment and assault allegedly at the hands of individuals associated with his former record label, Marlian Music.
Prior to Mohbad’s tragic demise, he shared a video wherein he mentioned his former boss, Naira Marley, and his associate, Sammy Larry, and suggested that they would be responsible if anything happened to him. It’s also reported that the singer had purportedly reached out to the police seeking protection from them. However, following his death, both Naira Marley and Sammy Larry denied any involvement in harming the singer, emphasizing their close fraternal relationship with him.
The news of the investigation has been met with enthusiasm by Mohbad’s fans, prominent figures in the entertainment industry, and the wider Nigerian community, all of whom have been fervently advocating for justice in Mohbad’s case.
