On September 6, 2023, Afronation made an official announcement on its social media platforms, revealing that the debut edition of Afronation Lagos is scheduled for December 19 and 20.

In 2022, the festival successfully organized a Ghanaian edition, featuring prominent American rapper Meek Mill as one of its marquee headliners.
